Restaurants and Dining in Naples, Italy
The Don Alfonso is a wonderful restaurant owned by Livia and Alfonso Iaccarino who are from a family with a tradition in hotel keeping. They have studied the 3000 year old history of food and wine in the Southern area from ancient scripts that are found at the Agriculture University of Portici.
About 8 years ago Livia and Alfonso started the Peracciole farm which is an important part of their restaurant. The different herbs, vegetables, olive oil, and fruit all come from there. They also have an ancient cellar that was dug in the tufo Don Alfonso which stores many types of prestigious wines from all areas of the world.
George’s is a magnificent restaurant that overlooks the Gulf of Naples. This restaurant offers a cuisine by Chef Baciot and has a blend of Mediterranean tastes that are native to the area. The traditional aromas together with Baciot’s creativity makes George’s stand out from other local restaurants.
At George’s an experienced sommelier Ylva Andersson sets the mood with an uncommon wine list filled with many interesting suggestions. There is a beautiful candle lit terrace where you can taste specialties such as “pizzelle e fogile”, a little pizza topped with wild herbs. Another house favorite is the “mazzancolle in petali di zucca su vellutata di salvia”, large shrimp in marrow petals on a sage cream sauce.
On the beautiful gulf of Naples you will find La Cantinella. From this restaurant you can view Mount Vesuvius and the coasts of Sorrento. This area has been immortalized by many famous painters for centuries.
La Cantinella is listed in the main national and international gastronomic guide books. The owner Giorgio Rosolino maintains the traditions and the high name of the restaurant. You can find delicious meals such as minestra maritata, zuppa di soffritto, lasagna, fresh lobster and shellfish, and a house favorite the tagliatelle santa licia.
